PETITION FOR PROSECUTION OF PUTIS CASE Dear Minister of Defense Antero Flores-Aráoz, We, defenders of life from around the world, are outraged by the massacre of at least 123 Peruvians on December 13, 1984, which included rape of women, torture and the killing of small children. We urge you to order the Peruvian Army to give to the Public Ministry the names of the officials and others who were stationed and/or had authority in Putis, Ayacucho, Peru at the time the crime was committed, including the names of the alleged perpetrators of this horrific crime. This crime must not go unpunished. As members of the international community and individuals and members of institutions and organizations concerned about respect for life and human rights, we want you to know that we will be following the outcome of the Putis case very closely.
