ANDEMOS is a program of PEACE AND HOPE INTERNATIONAL that aims to stimulate exchange and mutual learning between people from
different countries, cultures, and socio-economic backgrounds as they work alongside and serve the most vulnerable people in Latin America. Volunteers are placed with PAZ Y ESPERANZA organizations in Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, or with partner organizations in other countries in South America. These organizations work to defend and
protect the human rights of women, children, families displaced by political
violence, indigenous peoples and other marginalized groups.
ANDEMOS is a program born out
of the initiative of Christians from countries in both the South and North who understand the
priorities and necessities of people who desire to work for justice and peace in
our world. One of its main purposes is to contribute
to the renovation and strengthening of a generation of Christians who act as
servant-leaders, have a clear vision of integral mission, and are committed to the transformation of their lives and the society in which they live.
Peace and Hope International and Paz y Esperanza affiliates work with persons from all religious backgrounds. Both Christians and others with a desire to serve the most disadvantaged persons in Latin America are invited to apply for a placement through ANDEMOS.
Founded in 1996, PAZ Y ESPERANZA's staff is comprised of professionals
with expertise in areas such as human rights, social justice, advocacy,
psychological rehabilitation of victims of different types of abuse,
peaceful conflict resolution, and environmental protection.
PEACE AND HOPE INTERNATIONAL oversees PAZ Y ESPERNZA'S international programming and has offices and staff in Minneapolis, USA and Lima, Peru.
